Forgiveness vs Reconciliation — and why confusing them keeps you stuck.

In this episode of The Real Intelligence Podcast, Jenny Swim sits down with speaker, author and mental health advocate Ganel-Lyn Condie to untangle one of the most misunderstood concepts in personal growth: forgiveness.

Forgiveness is not access.
It is not trust.
And it is not reconciliation.

Together, they explore how waiting for an apology drains your internal capacity, how resentment quietly erodes leadership and relationships, and why reclaiming your power starts internally — not externally.

You’ll learn:

The difference between forgiveness and reconciliation

Why you can forgive someone who never apologizes

What to do when old pain resurfaces

Practical tools for moving forward without abandoning yourself

This is a grounded, emotionally mature conversation for leaders, parents, and high-capacity humans who want peace without pretending, and boundaries without bitterness.

Forgiveness isn’t about outcomes.
It’s about stewardship of your own energy.

It has been a decade since that March evening when my brother found my 40-year-old sister Meg dead by suicide. Everything changed that day. I know many families share this unique, intense grief. My life is not better without Meg. As her big sister, I tried to support and love Meg. Over her lifetime, she wrestled with mental health vulnerabilities, sought therapy and had multiple seasons of joy. But the reality of suicide is about exhaustion of the soul and pain management. Meg got tired.

In today’s episode we went into some deep conversation about STEWARDSHIP with our new friend Ganel-Lyn. I met Ganel-Lyn in the Green Room just before going on set for Good Things Utah, she’s actually a frequent guest on their show. I knew right away it would be an absolute honor to have her on our show. Ganel-Lyn is a popular speaker, host and author. She is a mental health advocate, social commentator and faith warrior. She also has her own Podcast: Talk of Him, a podcast video series to help with real life and gospel, Come Follow Me Study.
