Just Show Up, As God Directs: Patheos

On a bad-mood day, I discovered the need to just show up. I had just finished day two of presenting at a major conference on a college campus. The beautiful spring day didn’t match my mood. I had done a lot of processing and prepping for presentations focused on heavy topics. I was starting to fear that perhaps I would just show up and not be able to inspire my audiences in ways I desired.

Suicide Grief and A Savior: Patheos Blog

Suicide Grief and A Savior: Patheos Blog

Ten years ago, March of 2014, our family was plunged into suicide grief. My brother found my 40-year-old sister Meggan who had died by suicide. In that moment my world changed. Everything I thought I believed about hope, healing, and heartbreak was put under the microscope of grief. If ever there was a time I needed a Savior, it was in this shock and grief.

God’s Perfect Love: Agape (PATHEOS)

Forgiveness for Thanksgiving

Forgiveness for Thanksgiving

Ganel-Lyn shares tips for freeing yourself from pain and taking steps to forgive. Story about Thanksgiving. Squanto was the Native American that helped the English settlers of Plymouth Colony (later known as pilgrims) survive in their new home by teaching them how to plant crops, fish, and hunt. He was sold as a slave and when he came back he realized he had lost his tribe. He decided to help the same people that had hurt him. While we may not be required to forgive at this level, we can offer forgiveness this time of year.

The Ultimate Source Of Relief Is… Jesus Christ (2023 Women’s Conference)

How does sincere study of the Savior’s atoning sacrifice help me to better understand that He is filled with mercy and knows how to succor me in my trials? PATHEOS Interfaith I GLORY IN MY JESUS

PATHEOS Interfaith I GLORY IN MY JESUS

It is hard to choose a favorite scripture, but if I had to it would be “I glory in plainness; I glory in truth; I glory in my Jesus, for he hath redeemed my soul from hell” (2 Nephi 33:6). Maybe it is the personal nature of this scripture—my Jesus? Or is it the simple power of relying completely on Christ to find peace and redemption? It is both. We mortals tend to make things more complicated than needed. When I complicate things, I really complicate things.  But when I get caught in the weeds of confusion, I have found the Spirit strongest by remembering some specific ways that I glory in Jesus and return to His simple truths.

Female Friendships – GTU ABC 4tv

Ganel-Lyn Condie, motivational speaker, spoke today about the importance of female friendships. She shared five reasons why they are essential to women’s health. They can help women to live longer lives. Female friendships give us healthy hormones, like oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin. These help with emotional wellbeing and longevity. They help to build one another up. When you think of supporting your friends rather than competing with them, you friendships thrive. Getting real and going deep. Friendships only work when you get vulnerable and open up, bringing safety and openness for yourself. Quality over quantity. It is not about how many friends you have, but the bond you have with people. A strong bond with a few people is more important than a weak bond with many. Invest. In order to have strong friends, you have to be one to have one. Friends can change and evolve though...

The holiday season is the perfect time to catch up and connect with family and friends, but some topics are better not addressed in these settings. Ganel Lyn came by to share with us some of the best holiday conversation starters that everyone is sure to love. Ask about travel, especially if you have family members who travel for work or frequently for pleasure. Have you had any short weekend getaways recently? What’s the best travel experience you’ve ever had? Talk about relationships — and not just your ordinary “are you dating?” questions. Ask the parents at the table to describe what happened on the days their children were born. What is the best surprise that you have ever received from a loved one? Talk about food! Everyone loves to talk about their favorite restaurants and dishes — especially around the holidays. What’s the best restaurant you’ve ever been to? What’s the...

The True Meaning behind Courage: Good Things Utah

The True Meaning behind Courage: Good Things Utah

Motivational speaker, Ganel Lyn, joins us in the studio today to discuss what courage really is and some of the misconceptions surrounding it. She defines courage as not letting fear get the final word or last say in your life. Ganel-Lyn says people sometimes think courage is always doing something crazy, like jumping out of a plane, but it can even be just showing up as your authentic self every day. Private and personal decisions in your life take courage and there’s not always an audience to applaud you for it. Sometimes just showing up to social situations take courage so it’s important to give yourself credit for that. The different kinds of courage Lynn highlighted today are physical, social, moral, emotional, and spiritual. She emphasized everyone should wake up every day and check their mental health. Be sure to set aside time for self-care or talk about your fears to someone,...

Ganel-Lyn Condie, Speaker, Best Selling Author, and Host of the Middle – Lemonade Stand Stories

If Ganel-Lyn and I could get a dollar for the many times our names have been butchered by others, we would probably have billions of dollars in bitcoin. From talking about having braces in our adult years to feeling we are in the middle of heavy stuff, our podcast was so filled with light and joy because we discussed so much of the author of Light and Joy. Ganel-Lyn doesn't shy away from her spiritual faith, because it is at the root of who she is. And she is an absolute delight to be around. She is filled with so much knowledge and was dropping truth bombs after truth bombs. We had such a fun time discussing the things that truly bring us joy and lift us out of despair. When Ganel-Lyn lost her sister to death by suicide, she felt the lowest of the lows. Getting out of that was no easy task, but in the process, really came to know her Maker. We have had a really fun time chatting and...

World Suicide Prevention Day The Lisa Show

Today is world suicide prevention day. One in every 100 deaths worldwide is the result of suicide, and each one leaves a devastating impact on those around them. With the stresses of the past year, mental health is important now more than ever! As we increase awareness about suicide and become more informed, we are better equipped to help prevent it. Ganel-Lyn talks about what she has learned over the last 7 years since loosing Meg to suicide.

Five things you need to know to prevent suicide

Five things you need to know to prevent suicide

Sept. 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day. This day hits close to home for our guest, Ganel-Lyn Condie, due to a tragic loss she experienced seven years ago because of suicide. Condie shared five things she has learned over the last seven years while studying awareness and prevention. Mental health is for all of us. There are no groups that are free of risk. Therapy should be celebrated. It is education for our minds, hearts and relationships. Ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask a loved one if they are struggling with thoughts of self-harm. We will never be better without you. Our lives are not better without you in it. Stay in your body. Our bodies are a gift so make choices each day that up the light in a sometimes dark world.

Are you a Steward or an Owner

Are you a Steward or an Owner

In this episode, we spoke with Ganel-Lyn Condie, a popular motivational speaker, author and podcast host. She’s written several books and currently hosts two podcasts: “Real Talk – Come Follow Me” and “The Middle”. We spoke with her about a couple of topics that she’s spoken and written about recently — first is her concept of “stewardship vs. ownership,” which is a really great insight into facing challenges without letting them become an identity. Secondly, we discussed the concept of “letting God prevail,” which was the focus of President Nelson’s October 2020 General Conference address. We loved talking with Ganel-Lyn and found her to be extraordinarily authentic and approachable. We hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did.

Making Mistakes – BYU Radio

Making Mistakes – BYU Radio

When was the last time you bit into a sweet, warm, and gooey chocolate chip cookie? I can imagine that your first thought when you took a bite was probably, “Wow, I’m in heaven! This is delicious,” and not, “Wow, I’m so glad someone failed.” Ruth Wakefield invented chocolate chip cookies on accident when experimenting with cookie recipes. The result of chocolate in cookies was nothing like what she was trying to accomplish, and yet that failure was the birth of what is arguably the best cookie in the world. So what can we learn from Ruth’s example? How can we learn how to embrace our mistakes as learning moments on our path to success? With us today is motivational speaker Ganel-Lyn Condie to teach us how to embrace making mistakes.

H.E.L.P. The Lisa Show

H.E.L.P. The Lisa Show

There is an old African proverb that goes: Once after a storm, the beach was littered with starfish. One man walked down the beach and picked up on starfish at a time and chucked them back into the ocean. Another man walked by and scoffed, “you will never be able to save all the starfish out here.” To which the wise man responded, “yes I know, but to this one I have made all the difference” as he throws one more into the ocean. How does this proverb relate to us, in a world full of more problems that are bigger and more complex than we can solve on our own? What are the things we can do to make the world a little bit better for those around us?

Appreciating Teachers – THE LISA SHOW

Appreciating Teachers – THE LISA SHOW

Teachers have been the unsung heroes of the pandemic as they’ve juggled constant changes to their classroom environment. They’ve been forced to double the lesson plans in order to accommodate online learning, socially distanced in-person learning, and even blended learning. They’ve had to teach their own kids who are learning at home while also caring for the needs of all their other students. Teachers have been nothing short of superheroes. So, because it’s teacher appreciation month, we wanted to discuss ways we can express our heartfelt gratitude for everything they’ve done for our kids over the past year. And here with us today is motivational speaker and writer Ganel-Lyn Condie to help us out.
